How to get onto a degree without A Levels

Think you won’t qualify for university because you don’t have A Levels? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s a common misconception that A Levels are the only name in the game when it comes to getting into higher education (HE).

The truth is, however, that you could get into a course based on work experience, previous studies, personal statements and more. Indeed, if you’ve worked in industry, you may find that some degrees will offer you a place based on an interview or employment experience as an alternate entry route.

Many institutes use HE interviews to assess your skills, knowledge and experience within the relevant sector. They are also an opportunity to make sure that the course is a right fit for you as well as giving you an opportunity to see if the provider is a place where you will feel at home..

What’s more A Levels aren’t even the only way to get UCAS points - all Level 3 or above qualifications give you equivalent UCAS points. These qualifications may include: Access to HE Diploma, AAT, BTEC, Certificate of HE, EPQ, Foundation Degree, HNC, HND, IB, NVQ, Scottish Highers and others.

If you need a hand navigating entry requirements, our team are always available to help. Explore degree courses here.

Even if you don’t have the required qualifications or experience it doesn’t mean the end of the road for your dream of gaining a degree.
