Here's some of the important terms defined. Knowing what these mean and what to look for (so that study suits you) will give you a headstart when it comes to making decisions about your future.
Contact hours
This is the amount of time you’ll be in workshops, lectures, practical’s etc whether they’re on campus or online.
Self-directed study hours
Typically, for every hour you’re in class you should be spending another hour outside of it on research, reading, rehearsing, notes, assignment writing- what you’re using these hours for doing will depend on the module and the time of year.
Blended
A mix of on-campus and interactive online learning. Some stuff is better learnt on campus because of specialist facilities, equipment or software. Other sessions work just as well online as they do in person - join Microsoft Teams workshops from home and get involved in conversation, ask questions and get the most out of this- just remotely. Online sessions are also recorded so you can always catch up.
Online
All learning is delivered online. You can still come onto campus to use the library, meet people or access support services but your classes won’t be delivered from there. All sessions are interactive and recorded for extra flexibility. Tutors and support are available to speak to online.
